Common Sense says Popular anime series has lots of fights, strong characters. Based on our expert review. Based on 74 reviews. Based on reviews. Add your rating. Parents say 74 Kids say Good anime for beginners as well as younger friends Overall this anime has solid story telling and good character development. Unlike alot of children's animes out there it has themes that focus on developing relationships, betrayl, as well as some minor lessons here and their.

It is an anime about ninja. For some viewers depending on how mature they are this might be a little too violent it's up to parents to decide if their 10 year old is ready for the show.

Personally my godson had to wait until 12 before i started him on it otherwise he'd be rasenganing his friends and id have to tell his mother my bad. He just wasn't mature enough to handle it. But for a beginner anime it's a great first choice. There is minor swearing a couple of damns and minor others.

But otherwise nothing big. This title contains: Positive Messages. Positive role models. This review Helped me decide. Had useful details. Read my mind. Report this review. Adult Written by AmandaM July 14, My nephews have been watching this show with me since they were infants, and they are not violent, nor do they cuss.

This show truly has excellent morals. I love the show myself and it has truly taught me to be a better person. Also notice how Japan is a more peaceful country with a much lower violent crime rate than the US. My children will be watching Naruto straight out of the womb. I would highly recommend it for ages Adult Written by Sergio M. May 20, Naruto There are some sexual references and jokes.

Naruto can use a power called his "Sexy Jutsu" to change into a nude girl, but any genitalia or breasts are covered by smoke. The jutsu is mostly used for pranks. Kakashi frequently reads from an erotica book series called "Makeout Paradise", although nothing is ever shown or described. Quite a few of the older males are perverts. This is referenced quite a bit since Naruto calls Jiraiya the "Pervy Sage", as he is always peeping on women.

All the battles have lots of violence and blood. Blood spurts from throats, runs down legs and arms, covers faces, stains the environment and weapons, and we hear the crunching sounds of bones being broken. Swears are very mild and infrequent, like "damn", "bastard", "crap" and "ass".

Characters infrequently drink Japanese wine called sake. Smoking is moderate, except one character who is always seen with a cigarette in his mouth. Parent Written by Jen Z.

April 24, Sexy Jutsus I was okay with this until the clouds of sexy jutsus showed up which was either one or several blonde naked animated women with clouds covering their private parts speaking in mousey sultry voices to distract the other ninjas in battle.

Adult Written by Landon J. March 12, The first issue I noticed is the noverbal and verbal conversation about nudity and perverse, this is mentioned throughout the series kinda on and off. Another issue is the language. Some words like god damn and bastard and ass.

There is some blood but it has some very good role models and a very good message on not giving up. Overall this is my favourite tv show! Parent of a 2 and 7-year-old Written by Jonathan A.

Largely Kid Friendly, Intermittent Adult Themes Naruto has a somewhat unique place that makes it hard to have an age range. One moment the show might be revolving around a deadpan talking ninja dog, the next someone's been stabbed by a dagger with a conservative amount of blood.

There is a good deal partial nudity and references to characters being deviant looking at you, pervy sage however it's meant as comic relief rather than untoward lewd content. Regardless, I think this show covers some relatively complex but important concepts for developing children, in particular responding to social stigma, societal expectations, overcoming obstacles, and moral integrity.

Aside from violence and partial nudity, there's a very, VERY rare exposure to obscenity and alcohol as well obscenities being on the lighter side, goddamn, bastard, things of that nature, alcohol almost always in a negative light.

TL:DR I let my 8 yr old watch it with my supervision, and I only fast-forward the partial nudity scenes, I'd say she can watch it on her own once she's about 10, Adult Written by Holly R.

March 5, Naruto Became Hokage! Believe it!!! The review is for both Naruto and the Shippuden half based on the more common uncut series is on Adult Swim uncut and the edited versions are not on TV at the moment.

And brief complete series synopsis spoilers included because it's important to know what to expect is the beginning of the series the nine-taled fox demon kills alot of ninjas whilst rampaging in a ninja village during the 3rd Shinobi war. Before being killed, the 4 Hokage named Minato seals the demon in an infant Naruto who we learn later in the series through flashbacks are father and son respectively.

Because of this, Naruto is the target of bullying as a child and blamed for the death and destruction that occurred even though it was the demon sealed within and not Naruto personally that did it.

Despite being an outcast Naruto dreams of becoming Hokage which is the village hero but is teased for thinking he can achieve it. There's lots of flashbacks that tell of characters"hard luck" stories and there's a ton of filler episodes as it's based off a comic that was still being told at the time it was being made so alot of episodes have nothing to do with the comic.

The main character is orphaned but encounters "ghosts" of his parents through means that reminded me of the Potter series. The show has a villain named Orochimaru who's name is literally the Japanese word for"snake man" and looks like Michael Jackson with Gene Simmons tongue the guy from Kiss. And that character is extremely disturbing as he puts "curse marks" that either kill or make the victim a mind slave.

There's character deaths throughout and the show has very depressing parts. This is a much darker version of Harry Potter except that it's ninjas instead of witch's and wizards and there's more adult situations and sadness. In the end of the series it's worth it because Naruto achieves his dream of being a beloved Hokage and Sasuke becomes good and they also have kids as Naruto married Hinata and Sasuke married Sakura.

One character named Kakashi who is Naruto's Team 7 mentor most of the series has a particularly sad backstory of becoming obsessed with mission completion over the lives of his teammates because his father Sakumo failed a mission in favor of his friends and was ridiculed to the point that he committed suicide by everyone including the friends he saved.

Kakashi wears a "mask" to hide the fact that he looks like his father. He has two team mates and Obito Uchiha is his "rival" team member who isn't as talented as Kakashi. Obito learns about who Kakashi's dad was and Kakashi says that his father was a fool and was trash for abandoning the mission and Obito disagrees saying that Sakumo was a hero and that abandoning and team mate makes you worse than trash. Needless to say every back story is depressing and can tug at the empathy in the most worst spot.

Like it was mentioned by another reviewer there's alot of talking and backstory's and the vaste majority of plot moving dialogue is told through sad conversations and tragic flashbacks. Revenge and betrayal are often paired up with the opposing forgiveness and loyalty.

It's like a drawn out fictionalized war story with both realistic and fantasy bloodshed. There's a character who uses necromancy and is implied to be a necrophiliac and gay-ish.

There's perverted characters and profanity. It's not a bad show but it has an older target audience. And as a note to parents who are concerned about the show yes you should be cautious with young children watching it as this is not a children's show. I have noticed that alot of parents are under the"dated" and incorrect assumption that if it's animated then it must be for children and that simply is not the case and hasn't been since the early 's with the first X-rated cartoon Fritz the Cat being made in and others being made throughout the 70's and into the 80's and even currently with films like Heavy Metal and Felidae.

It's important to check a cartoons age rating before giving it a bad star rating and rate it based on how good it is for the age range and not condemn a show based on your child's age range but on how the target age is affected. For the 15 and up age range it's an excellent cartoon for anime fanatics.

Also anime is Japanese for cartoon so yes it's a cartoon. Parent of a 1, 3, and 9-year-old Written by Troy W. January 19, They use G.

In the anime and manga, Orochimaru is a former ninja of the village of Konohagakure who is known for his abilities. However, creating his ninja village Otogakure as means to perform inhumane experimentation, Orochimaru sought means to gain power and cheat death. In the latter, Orochimaru obtained a means for immortality by transferring between different host bodies which became one of his driving motivations throughout the series as he targets Sasuke Uchiha for his genetic heritage. While the main antagonist in Part I of the series, Orochimaru's role became overshadowed by the Akatsuki organization prior to the Fourth Ninja War arc. Orochimaru has appeared in media outside the Naruto anime and manga, including several video games.

The series takes place in a fictional universe where countries vie for power by employing ninja who can use superhuman abilities in combat. The storyline is divided into two parts, simply named Part I and Part II , with the latter taking place two-and-a-half years after the conclusion of Part I. The series' storyline follows the adventures of a group of young ninja from the village of Konohagakure Village Hidden in the Leaf. The eponymous character of the first series is Naruto Uzumaki , an energetic ninja who wishes to become Hokage , the leader of Konohagakure and holds a monster called the Nine Tails in his body. During the early part of the series, Naruto is assigned to Team 7 , in which he meets his rival Sasuke Uchiha , a taciturn and highly skilled "genius" of the Uchiha clan; Sakura Haruno , who is infatuated with Sasuke and has Naruto's attention and Kakashi Hatake , the quiet and mysterious leader of the team. Over the course of the series, seeking out Sasuke when he ran away from the village, Naruto interacts with and befriends several fellow ninja in Konohagakure and other villages. He also encounters the series' antagonists, including Orochimaru , a former ninja of Konohagakure scheming to destroy his former home, as well as the elite ninja of the criminal organization Akatsuki who seek out jinchuriki like Gaara for the tailed beasts. The eponymous character of the second series is Boruto Uzumaki , the son of Naruto and Hinata Hyuga who is assigned to Team Konohamaru also known as Team 7, which includes Sasuke and Sakura's daughter — Sarada Uchiha , Orochimaru's artificially created son — Mitsuki and the group's leader — Konohamaru, the Third Hokage's grandson whom Naruto befriended as a child. As he developed the series, Kishimoto created the three primary characters as a basis for the designs of the other three-person teams. After reviewing different manga for ideas, he ultimately developed Sasuke Uchiha.

Their worldwide popularity is staggering. Fewer people know that the English voices of these rambunctious males are supplied by women: Maile Flanagan, 53, plays Naruto; Amanda Miller, 31, is Boruto; and Colleen Clinkenbeard, 38, is Luffy. In the United States, actresses often voice young boys — Nancy Cartwright has long played Bart Simpson, and the late June Foray did scores of kids in Jay Ward cartoons — but rarely do they speak for athletic teenagers or adult men. In Japan, all three characters are also voiced by women.

Haku was born in a small, snowy village in the Land of Water , a land that had suffered from war not long before. In this war, different sides battled each other using ninja, some of whom possessed kekkei genkai.

The world of Naruto is complex and filled with hundreds of colorful characters. Since a Naruto anime has been on screens consistently for 16 years, it's fair to say that it's been very effective. However, favoritism doesn't ensure that a character was good for the series. They may be fun to watch, but they aren't inherently good for the world. Conversely, sometimes fan blunders are less exciting but fantastic forces for good. Though at times Naruto had a poor time of showing it, Tsunade was always an absurdly strong ninja with a complex personality.
