There is not a single country in the world today whose top political position is held by a woman. Although, during the last decade, women have entered fields previously barred to them, men still monopolize the key positions in government, industry and military institutions. The questions remain: Are there innate biological harriers that prevent women trom attaining equal power? Or, is there something built into the human male that makes it more natural for him to command females than for females to command him? Feminists actually tend to underestimate male supremacism.

Men with genetic make up linked to social dominance and leadership are seen as more desirable romantic partners by members of the opposite sex, a study says.

The findings, published in the journal Human Nature, suggest that men and women with genotypes consistent with prevailing gender norms are seen as more desirable. The team led by Karen Wu turned to speed-dating to test their predictions in a real-life scenario. In such meet-ups, participants only had a few minutes to assess the short- and long-term potential of their speed-dating partners, and to decide whether or not to offer their partners a second date. The team recruited single Asian Americans to have three-minute dates with members of the opposite sex.

After each speed-date, participants were asked whether or not they wanted to offer their partner a second date, and how desirable they found the person as a romantic partner.

When examining the DNA samples collected from participants, the researchers focused on two polymorphisms on two different genes that were previously linked to social dynamics.

One of the polymorphisms is part of the genetic make-up that has been linked to social dominance and leadership. The researchers found that men and women with genotypes consistent with prevailing gender norms were more likely to receive second date offers.

WHY MEN DOMINATE WOMEN

But a century on, the ovulation cycle continues to interest psychologists, who today focus on how it affects sexual behaviour. A popular evolutionary psychology theory states that during fertile periods, women become more interested in men who use dominant masculine behaviour, as this signals they are likely to provide good genes for any offspring. A University of Goettingen team have now conducted the largest ever test of this idea, published as a pre-print at PsyArxiv. Employing a stronger design than past research, her team tested the same subjects repeatedly at different times in their cycle rather than relying on different participants.

On the other hand, if you are a confident good guy who is fairly dominant at times, then you will be able to attract the majority of beautiful women and keep a woman happy in a relationship. She will be happy and excited to meet a good, confident guy who makes her feel feminine in comparison to his masculinity and occasional dominance, while also treating her well.

Men find submissive women more attractive, while women prefer dominant men, a new study has found. The social norm that men lead the way and women follow is etched in the genes. In a new research, scientists have found that potential partners are those who can detect these so-called "good genes". Scientists say that people who are most likely to be asked on a second date are those who have genotypes that society typically associates with the two genders: dominance in men and submissiveness in women.
