Ages After nineteen books and five Geisel honours, Elephant and Piggie have reemerged to star in another funny, perceptive tale. Elephant & Piggie: A Big Guy Took My Ball!
Nineteen books and five Geisel medals or honors along, Elephant and Piggie are still delivering funny, emotionally Gerald the elephant and Piggie return with another playground psychodrama, this one with a twist. His deft exploitation of comic-book conventions sets speech balloons to overlapping and appropriately varying in size. In the song, Smith meets a donkey on the road. Look for ready guffaws from young audiences, whether read or sung, though those attuned to disability stereotypes may find themselves wincing instead or as well. A lesson that never grows old, enacted with verve by two favorite friends. As the day turns to twilight signaled by the backgrounds that darken from mauve to gray to charcoal , Gerald gets grumpy. At one point, Piggie assumes the lotus position, infuriating Gerald. And the spectacular, photo-collaged images of the Milky Way that dwarf the two friends makes it clear that it was indeed worth the wait. Already have an account?
